The proposed four high-rise towers which were going to be built within the historic and heritage listed Lota House has been rejected by Brisbane City Council.
This is an excellent result for the community and we should all be proud of our individual efforts which resulted in BCC receiving 159 submissions to the planning tool PDOnline. Thank you to everyone including all our elected representatives who came together in a bipartisan way to support the strong community opposition of this development. As a result of this decision the Wynnum Herald is scheduled to take a community photograph outside the entrance driveway to Lota Court (next to the bus stop on Oceana Terrace). This is to take place on Saturday at 9.30am. If you are available please come to show your delight at the decision. We will have more news as it comes to hand: Anglicare and Village Retirement Group may appeal or resubmit revised plans.
